Responsibilities:

  • Utilize your biochemistry expertise to develop functional and binding assays for RNA-binding proteins and/or RNAs in conjunction with small molecules.
  • Serve as the biochemistry lead on various projects, playing a crucial role in the drug discovery process.
  • Investigate and assess new biochemical techniques to bolster drug discovery efforts.
  • Design and implement experimental frameworks to elucidate protein and RNA interactions.
  • Establish, troubleshoot, and enhance biochemical screening assays.
  • Oversee and actively participate in collaborations with contract research organizations, working closely with a multidisciplinary team to screen and validate small molecule candidates.
  • Conduct independent experiments while collaborating within a highly interdisciplinary team.

Key Qualifications:

  • PhD with a minimum of 3 years of post-doctoral experience in Biochemistry or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of industry experience for Senior Scientist roles, ideally in an interdisciplinary setting with close collaboration with medicinal chemists.
  • A strong publication record from both PhD and post-doctoral work demonstrating expertise in Biochemistry.
  • Proficiency in developing functional assays using techniques such as TR-FRET, Alpha-LISA, and Fluorescent Polarization.
  • Preferred experience in RNA biochemistry, including synthesis, purification, characterization, and structural analysis using methods like crystallography, SHAPE-MaP, or NMR.
  • Experience in analyzing protein/protein, protein/RNA, RNA/small molecule, or protein/small molecule interactions using techniques such as DSF, ITC, and/or MST, particularly in the context of small molecule drug discovery.
  • Understanding of protein expression and purification processes.
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced start-up environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
