The Research Lab Tech II position involves conducting research and administrative tasks in a laboratory setting. Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator, the Research Lab Tech II will conduct independent and collaborative research involving molecular biology and microbiology techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct research projects involving molecular biology and microbiology techniques, including PCR, sequencing, and antimicrobial susceptibility testing.
- Develop and validate molecular diagnostic tests in collaboration with research and clinical scientists.
- Analyze data and results, and present findings in a clear and concise manner.
- Maintain accurate records of research findings and results in a detailed laboratory notebook.
- Participate in weekly laboratory meetings and contribute to the development of research projects.
- Order laboratory supplies and maintain laboratory inventories.
- Oversee the shipping and receiving of biohazardous materials.
- Perform other laboratory-related functions as required or directed.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree with research expertise (2+ years).
- Experience in molecular biology and microbiology.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Well-organized and detail-oriented.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Working Conditions:
The Research Lab Tech II will work primarily in a research laboratory setting. The position may require exposure to biohazardous or toxic substances, and potential exposure to blood-borne pathogens.
Physical Requirements:
The position requires clear vision at 20 inches or less and depth perception. Some lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds may be required.
