Position Overview
As a Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) administrator, you will play a vital role in managing a classified platform that enables developers to build, deploy, and manage applications without navigating the complexities of the underlying infrastructure.
This position will also involve serving as the primary data transfer officer and software license administrator within a program support capacity.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the entire PaaS infrastructure, ensuring its availability, scalability, and performance align with the requirements of developers and applications.
- Oversee the deployment and configuration of PaaS services, ensuring proper setup and integration with other systems.
- Establish and maintain security protocols to safeguard the PaaS environment from potential threats and vulnerabilities, including access control and compliance with security standards.
- Monitor the health and performance of the PaaS environment, diagnosing and resolving any issues that arise, collaborating with helpdesk associates to optimize performance.
- Assist in managing resources such as computing power, storage, and networking to ensure optimal performance and cost efficiency.
- Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery solutions to protect against data loss and ensure business continuity.
- Provide support to users and developers utilizing the PaaS platform, helping troubleshoot issues and optimize performance, and conducting training sessions on best practices.
- Stay informed about emerging technologies and industry trends, continually evaluating and implementing enhancements to the PaaS environment.
Software License Management
- Source, negotiate, and procure software licenses for various departments, coordinating with vendors for optimal terms and pricing.
- Maintain accurate records of all software licenses owned by the organization, including agreements, renewal dates, and usage terms.
- Ensure compliance with software usage agreements, monitoring for non-compliance and taking corrective actions as necessary.
- Analyze software license utilization data to identify optimization opportunities and cost savings.
- Manage the renewal process for software licenses, ensuring timely renewals to prevent operational disruptions.
- Establish and maintain relationships with software vendors, serving as the primary contact for license-related inquiries.
- Prepare for and facilitate software license audits, ensuring all necessary documentation is available.
- Collaborate with customers and approvers to ensure timely approval of new software versions.
Data Transfer Responsibilities
- Oversee secure data transfers between systems, ensuring integrity, confidentiality, and compliance with regulations.
- Coordinate data transfer processes, collaborating with stakeholders to establish protocols and ensure timely delivery.
- Implement security measures to protect data during transfers, ensuring compliance with data protection regulations.
- Monitor data transfer processes, addressing any issues that arise and generating performance reports.
- Troubleshoot technical issues related to data transfer, collaborating with IT teams to resolve problems.
- Maintain documentation of data transfer processes, ensuring adherence to privacy regulations and organizational policies.
- Identify opportunities to optimize data transfer processes and enhance security measures.
Cybersecurity Support
- Assist in continuous monitoring tasks and prepare documentation for systems in support of Authorizations to Operate (ATOs).
- Maintain required certifications to support privileged user assignments and sustain DoD IA training requirements.
- Assist in developing and documenting user training plans.
- Proactively seek ways to apply technology to enhance the organization's mission.
- Collaborate with lead and senior ISSOs to evaluate the impact of system changes and prepare documentation for security package re-approval.
- Support systems administration tasks, including data backup and user account management.
- Provide support for servers, network, and desktop hardware, monitoring daily activities and documenting changes.
- Assist with hardware and software deployment to ensure optimal resource utilization.
- Participate in cable routing and hardware maintenance.
- Gather data related to software packages for assigned systems to maintain accurate documentation.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- 2-4 years of experience as an Administrator on server-based systems, with software installation and troubleshooting experience.
- Specialized certification in accordance with DoD 8570.1M.
- Experience with license management tools and software asset management practices.
- Basic familiarity with RMF and ATO processes.
- Familiarity with Windows desktop, Windows Server, and Linux OS.
- Excellent organizational skills and strong communication abilities.
- Ability to interact with personnel from various engineering and technical disciplines.
- Willingness to work non-standard schedules as needed.
- Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance.
Desired
- Experience with large-scale commercial and/or military systems.
- Knowledge of Windows servers and desktop products.
- System Administrator experience with software installation.
