Job Summary

Bon Secours Mercy Health is seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Critical Care team. As a Critical Care Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care to critically ill patients in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough patient assessments, develop and implement individualized care plans, and evaluate patient outcomes.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, and monitor patients for adverse reactions.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care, including physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Provide education and support to patients and their families, promoting health literacy and self-management skills.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, identifying areas for improvement and implementing evidence-based practices to enhance patient care.
Requirements
  • Current RN license in the state of employment or compact state.
  • BLS certification, with ACLS certification required within 6 months of hire.
  • 1 year of RN experience, with 6 months of experience in a Med/Surg, Critical Care, Stepdown, or Emergency Department Unit preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple patients, and maintain a calm and composed demeanor in high-stress situations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • CCRN or PCCN certification.
  • Experience with electronic health records, including EPIC.
  • Knowledge of advanced respiratory modalities and hemodynamic monitoring.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver patients, with occasional exposure to hazardous substances or body fluids.
Working Conditions

This role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads. The Critical Care Registered Nurse may be exposed to physical altercations and verbal abuse, and may be required to use physical restraints. The role also requires the ability to work in a team environment, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Physical Requirements

The Critical Care Registered Nurse must be able to lift, carry, and maneuver patients, with occasional exposure to hazardous substances or body fluids. The role requires manual dexterity, with the ability to perform repetitive arm and hand movements. The nurse must also be able to hear alarms and telephone audio recordings, and have good visual acuity and depth perception.
