Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Commissioning Engineer to join our team at TRC Companies. As a key member of our Client Teams, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and performing commissioning activities for various utility substation protection, control, and power circuits.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate, and perform commissioning activities for utility substation protection, control, and power circuits in accordance with TRC's and Client's requirements, budgets, and schedules.
  • Review wiring diagrams, schematics, and engineering documents in advance of projects and outages.
  • Perform trouble-shooting and problem analysis associated with protection and control systems and utility substation equipment.
  • Participate in project meetings, including kickoff meetings, planning meetings, progress meetings, and lessons learned meetings.
  • Prepare detailed daily, weekly, and project completion reports and documentation.
  • Assist in developing project-specific testing and commissioning plans, energization plans, and other assigned project-specific documentation.
  • Identify risks and associated mitigation techniques on utility systems and equipment.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Electrical or Power Systems preferred) from an accredited school or University.
  • 5+ years related experience with testing and commissioning services (Electric Utility experience is preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to read and understand construction and manufacturer's drawings and specifications, as well as schematic diagrams.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical protection systems, including relay communication.
  • Prior professional experience in medium and high voltage substation and power plant equipment.
  • Test experience using Doble Protection Suite and/or ProTest, SEL AcSELerator, Enoserv RTS is highly preferred.
