Job Summary

The Director of Data Platform Operations is responsible for ensuring the Epic Cogito environments (Clarity, Caboodle, Slicer Dicer) used for analytics achieve peak performance and a high degree of resiliency.

This includes ensuring that these environments are built according to Epic's standards and at the requisite SU level in line with the corresponding Chronicles environments.

In addition, this position is responsible for overseeing the PennDnA cloud and on-prem environments to ensure policies and standards are created and followed.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for modernizing PennDnA platforms aligned with organizational goals, with a focus on Cogito and Cloud platform technologies and methodologies.
  • Lead, develop, and manage a team of data professionals, setting high performance expectations and helping the team achieve them.
  • Accountable for achieving outcomes each year related to understanding and ensuring that these platforms meet Epic's Honor Roll requirements, maintenance and reliability of the platforms providing data used for analytics, and migration of data to the cloud.
  • Drive the migration of data to the cloud, ensuring data integrity, security, and compliance, and establish and enforce governance practices related to cloud data.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with IS, Epic, Microsoft, users, and administrative stakeholders to understand data needs, optimize the platforms, and help drive data-driven decision-making across the organization.
  • Maintain technical expertise and serve as a subject matter advisor on platforms, staying abreast of vendors' roadmaps, industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and implement changes to enhance these environments for efficiency, reliability, and user satisfaction.
  • Identify potential risks related to on-prem and cloud platforms, develop mitigation strategies, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Requirements

Bachelor of Arts or Science in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience. 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in system administration management, experience managing teams and large complex cross-functional projects for enterprise-wide applications.
