Position Overview

The Family Therapy Specialist plays a crucial role in fulfilling the objectives of the Parent Management Training Oregon (PMTO) initiative by delivering assessments, therapeutic services, resources, and interventions essential for fostering a nurturing family atmosphere that meets the needs of the children and families served.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enroll in PMTO training upon hiring.
  • Complete all requirements for PMTO certification.
  • Conduct initial and ongoing evaluations to integrate into personalized treatment strategies.
  • Involve family members in tailored treatment plans that are regularly updated to align with the aspirations of the family and child.
  • Deliver PMTO family therapy, ensuring adherence to the PMTO model.
  • Manage a caseload of 4-5 families, conducting a minimum of 2 weekly sessions and 1 coaching call.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of all sessions and interactions with individuals, families, and collateral contacts in the electronic health record.
  • Timely completion and maintenance of all program fidelity documentation.
  • Provide consultation to advance permanency objectives for children and families.
  • Offer intervention and support for clients facing crisis situations.
  • Work effectively with the judicial system, adhering to court protocols, including appropriate professional attire, preparing reports for court, and participating in court proceedings when required.
  • Evaluate ongoing treatment and case plan objectives, preparing recommendations for reunification, termination of parental rights, or other permanency alternatives.
  • Make informed recommendations for necessary services for the child and family, including mental health and substance abuse services, respite care, and supervised or unsupervised visitations/interactions.
  • Ensure maximum billable Medicaid hours are achieved and submit required documentation for Medicaid billing or grant hours.
  • Assist in monitoring overall client satisfaction with the program.
  • Regularly meet with Supervisor to review assigned cases and submit necessary reports.
  • Participate in team meetings and group supervision as scheduled.
  • Engage in evidence-based model training and obtain required certifications.
  • Report critical incidents to DCF verbally within 12 hours and in writing within 24 hours.
  • Implement policies of Saint Francis Ministries and adhere to all relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), rules, personnel policies, and applicable accreditation and licensure standards, as well as federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Maintain knowledge of and comply with all safety protocols.
  • Report unusual incidents through the appropriate Risk Management, clinical, and safety channels.
  • Ensure the protection of clients' rights.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in social work, psychology, addictions counseling, marriage and family therapy, or counseling from an accredited institution.
  • Preferred clinical certification: LSCSW, LCMFT, LCPC.
  • Licensed to practice in the State of Kansas.
  • Experience in family-based services through education or professional experience is required.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Successful completion of drug screening, MVR, KBI, Child Abuse and Neglect Central Registry Clearance check, and Adult Registry check.
  • FBI fingerprinting is required.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license, a satisfactory driving record, and reliable transportation.
