Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Engineer to join our team at Lifespan. The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating and selecting capital equipment, planning and implementing medical device integration, and ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop processes for evaluating state-of-the-art capital equipment
  • Coordinate the selection, acquisition, and installation of new patient care technology systems
  • Interact with vendors, regulatory agencies, and personnel to provide consultation on medical device performance, technical specifications, and clinical applications
  • Develop and implement system-wide medical equipment management plans to ensure safe and quality performance of medical equipment
  • Participate in organizational failure modes and effects analysis, perform technical testing of equipment performance, and participate in root cause analysis on equipment failure and incidents
Requirements
  • Experience in a healthcare environment or through a hospital-based internship program
  • Knowledge of medical device systems and technologies used in a healthcare environment, including principles of operation, major features, device networking methods, and testing and evaluation techniques
  • Knowledge of human physiology and anatomy related to understanding engineering principles in the application of clinical devices and technologies
  • Knowledge of codes and standards governing technology management in a healthcare environment, including FDA, JCAHO, and other regulatory organizations
  • Proficiency in personal computer applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, and technical drawing software
  • Strong communication and team building skills, with leadership qualities
