Job Summary:

Rhode Island Energy is seeking a skilled Distribution Field Engineer to join our team in Providence, RI. As a key member of our engineering team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and modernization of our distribution system.

Key Responsibilities:

• Investigate and resolve customer complaints related to voltage concerns, power quality issues, and reliability questions.
• Collaborate with the SCADA/EMS team to integrate control systems and technologies into various applications used by System Operators, Engineers, and Company personnel.
• Develop conceptual project plans to address identified system needs, and participate in project design reviews as the project team lead for assigned projects.
• Present and defend project recommendations for executive approval, and effectively form project teams of internal and external stakeholders for the development of project plans.
• Lead the implementation of engineering design for a specific area, managing an engineering team and consulting with other groups within the area to ensure design is fit for purpose and benefits PPL RI operations.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or engineering technology from a college or university accredited by ABET or recognized by ABET as substantially equivalent.
• Professional Engineer licensed in the state of Rhode Island, or equivalent experience in the energy industry.
• Experience with distribution automation, SCADA, metering, and control, as well as distributed energy resources (DER), battery storage installations (BESS), and sectionalizing devices.
• Strong knowledge of 3-phase AC systems, and experience with reviewing reliability reports and identifying solutions to improve reliability.
