We collaborate with educational institutions and after-school programs to deliver tailored services, including on-site coaching, professional development for staff overseeing recess, and strategic partnerships.
As a Youth Engagement Specialist, you will serve as an AmeriCorps member in local school districts, championing the importance of play. By joining a network of dedicated AmeriCorps members, you will contribute to strengthening community ties and enhancing the lives of children.
Your Impact:
- Foster a secure and welcoming recess environment by acting as a supportive role model, ensuring every child participates in play.
- Facilitate a youth leadership initiative by offering opportunities for student leadership during recess and conducting training sessions for selected students.
- Conduct individual classes aimed at developing youth leadership abilities, encouraging teamwork, and introducing new games, along with their respective rules and boundaries.
- Organize and mentor students in interscholastic sports leagues, which may include basketball, volleyball, or soccer.
- Plan and execute a community event that actively involves students' families at the school.
- Recruit and manage volunteers to assist during recess, enhancing the overall school environment.
- Help cultivate a positive school culture by engaging and motivating faculty, administrators, parents, and volunteers.
- Participate in national service days and community service projects on weekends.
- Utilize your organizational skills to manage program schedules, track hours, and compile essential program data.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status required.
- High school diploma or equivalent necessary.
- Commitment to complete the entire term of service, requiring a minimum of 1700 hours throughout the school year, participation in national service days, and ongoing training.
- Experience in leading or teaching groups of children, with the ability to engage and inspire youth.
- Must demonstrate strong organizational skills and adaptability to changing priorities.
- Proficiency in technology for data entry and communication, including Salesforce and Google applications.
- Strong dedication to community service, evidenced by prior volunteer work.
- Experience working with diverse communities and the ability to integrate into an existing school environment.
- Access to reliable transportation to assigned school locations.
- Successful completion of a background check is required.
- Completion of a Tuberculosis (TB) test and CPR and First Aid certification upon hire.
- A living stipend of up to $37,400, distributed bi-monthly.
