About Our Job

We are seeking a highly skilled Aquatics Coordinator to join our team at the City and County of Denver. As an Aquatics Coordinator, you will be responsible for creating, coordinating, and planning a variety of aquatic programs, classes, and activities while managing the day-to-day operations of the Green Valley Ranch Recreation Center Indoor Pool.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create and implement aquatic programs, including swimming lessons and special events
  • Assist with the recruitment, hiring, training, supervision, and coaching of part-time staff members, including lifeguards and swim lesson instructors
  • Oversee staff scheduling for aquatic part-time staff
  • Evaluate the success of programs and provide feedback to the Aquatics Core Team
  • Conduct regular staff training on emergency procedures
  • Deliver equitable, professional, and prompt customer service to community members and facility users
  • Create and foster partnerships with community leaders, neighborhood organizations, local schools, and other community partners to design programs that fit their unique needs and promote employment opportunities
  • Attend regular team meetings and collaborate with other Aquatics Coordinators, Recreation Supervisors, and other city agencies
  • Attend community events and serve as a Denver Parks and Recreation ambassador to the community
  • Perform basic regular maintenance and repair of pool equipment in partnership with Pool Maintenance Technicians

Requirements
  • Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET, or TASC Certificate
  • Three years of work experience instructing in an organized aquatic program involving the monitoring of pool equipment, pool chemicals, and pool operations
  • Lifeguard Training Certification, CPR and AED Certifications for Professional Rescuers, and First Aid Certification at the time of application
