Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Human Capital Junior Transactions Specialist to join our team at the Government Publishing Office (GPO). As a key member of our Human Capital Operations team, you will play a critical role in supporting the processing of personnel actions, new hire onboarding, and staffing, benefits, and classification HR specialists.

Key Responsibilities
  • Verify and input documents for employment in the USA Staffing system to onboard new hires.
  • Review pre-employment requirements, screen pre-employment forms for accuracy and completeness, and provide input on regulations and signature requirements.
  • Calculate necessary service computation dates in accordance with OPM processing procedures.
  • Process personnel forms, reports, and correspondence in final form.
  • Determine benefits eligibility and follow up on suspense actions.
  • Coordinate EOD dates for new hires, obtain and coordinate release dates, and prepare offer letters and employment-related correspondence.
  • Participate in conducting new employee orientation, including presenting information, completing new hire paperwork, and follow-up with one-on-one counseling.
  • Ensure personnel documents are scanned in eOPF's and are up to date.
  • Update the HC Dashboard - Tracker with accurate and concise information.
  • Codes actions for inputs into the National Finance Center's (NFC) automated payroll/personnel systems and reviews and follows-up on error listings and computer edits.
Requirements
  • Minimum of two (2) years relevant full-time experience within the last five (5) years.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
Preferred Skills
  • Working knowledge of coding and processing personnel actions, including Nature of Action codes, tenure, probationary period, legal authority, etc.
  • Experience with USA Staffing, including Selection Manager and Onboarding modules.
  • Basic skill and working knowledge of NFC/EPIC web.
  • Basic knowledge of pay and compensation.
  • Working knowledge of National Finance Center's EmpowHR system.
  • Working knowledge of OPM's eOPF system.
Language and Interpersonal Skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to write email correspondences or formal letters to various customer groups.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team to collaborate and reach a common goal.
Reasoning Ability
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Work Environment
  • Washington D.C. 20401 – Remote.
CLEARANCE
  • U.S. citizenship is required since this role supports the U.S. federal government.
