Job Overview

Bowman and Brooke LLP, a prominent trial law firm recognized nationally for its extensive product liability practice, is in search of a Regional Office Administrator with proven leadership and management capabilities to oversee our operations in the Charlotte, NC and Columbia, SC offices. The preferred candidate will be based in one of these locations and will travel to the other as required.

Our firm represents corporate clients, including Global 500 companies and international entities, in complex and high-stakes litigation across various jurisdictions. With a team of seasoned trial attorneys, Bowman and Brooke is known for its courtroom expertise and successful track record, handling significant cases in over 350 courthouses across 48 states, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and several Canadian provinces.

The Office Administrator will be responsible for managing all local human resources activities, including performance management, recruitment and onboarding, team development, facility oversight, budget management, and both in-house and outsourced services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the firm's national HR, Finance, IT, Records, and Marketing Departments to enforce policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Lead the recruitment, selection, and onboarding processes for the office.
  • Engage in Management by Walking Around (MBWA) to stay informed about team dynamics, foster commitment, and reinforce leadership values.
  • Provide coaching for success and implement disciplinary measures when necessary.
  • Oversee the performance management system for staff and attorneys.
  • Manage budgets, purchasing, and invoice processing efficiently.
  • Ensure optimal facility operations by applying best business practices in resource and service management.
  • Facilitate monthly team meetings to promote education, workflow guidance, and open communication.
  • Maintain consistent communication with local Managing and Co-Managing Partners.
  • Stay updated on local issues/events and implement strategies to ensure compliance and safety.
  • Organize all aspects of entertainment events, including team-building activities and staff appreciation events.
  • Travel between assigned locations as necessary.

Qualifications

  • Outstanding management and leadership abilities.
  • Experience in a fast-paced environment with high expectations for internal and external client service.
  • Familiarity with property and/or facility management.
  • Prior experience in a legal environment is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and project management capabilities.
  • Ability to quickly assess situations and respond appropriately.
  • Confidence in working with diverse personalities.
  • Leadership style that emphasizes empathy.
  • A good sense of humor.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Management, or a related field; or a combination of education and experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; knowledge of Aderant Expert (CMS) and iManage (document management software) is advantageous.
  • A minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in a dynamic law firm setting is required.
  • Experience in human resources is a plus.
  • Membership in the Association of Legal Administrators and participation in local chapters is beneficial.
