Job Summary

Hope is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Special Education Program Coordinator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing Individual Education Program (IEP) meetings for children served in our Therapeutic Day School Programs, ensuring compliance with all applicable rules and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinate and oversee IEP meetings for children served in our Therapeutic Day School Programs.
  2. Provide guidance and direction to therapy professionals, including Speech/Language, Occupational, Physical, Music, and Art therapists.
  3. Prepare and oversee the preparation of all required and requested reports and records in a timely fashion.
  4. Oversee and provide guidance and direction for the Professional Development of teachers, ensuring compliance with all applicable rules, regulations, and Hope policies and procedures.
  5. Coordinate the accreditation processes associated with Hope Learning Center, including CARF and AdvancEd.
  6. Participate in placement committees to ensure appropriate communication and documentation for student moves.
  7. Oversee the implementation of Unique Curriculum by all educators.
  8. Coordinate all reporting regulations as dictated by home school districts and the Student Information System (SIS).
  9. Communicate with parents, guardians, staff, visitors, licensing agencies, and other stakeholders in a professional and courteous manner.
  10. Assist with orientation and on-the-job training for new employees.
  11. Assume responsibility as a mandated reporter concerning incidents of purported abuse/neglect of youth.
  12. Ensure compliance with individual rights and program delivery as defined in the Illinois Department of Mental Health Code and Confidentiality Act, as well as the Child Care Act of the Department of Children and Family Services.

Requirements:

  1. Illinois Teaching Certificate – LBS I (Limited or Unlimited) or LBS II.
  2. Successful background clearance, physical, and drug/alcohol screening, and the ability to meet all licensing standards of the Department of Human Services and the Department of Child and Family Services.
  3. 5 Years Teaching Experience in Special Education.
  4. Knowledge and expertise in SPED Law.
  5. Ability to foster a supportive relationship by serving as a Hope representative to local, state, and education agencies.
  6. Excellent interpersonal skills.
  7. Experience delivering staff development training to small or large groups who work in diverse educational capacities.
