Job Title: Special Education Teacher

Job Summary:

Hope Learning Academy is seeking a dedicated and experienced Special Education Teacher to lead a classroom and provide educational activities and programs for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement educational activities and programs in accordance with IEP goals.
  • Plan daily and weekly schedules for each student.
  • Collect and analyze IEP goal data and evaluate any changes to IEP goals needed.
  • Prepare assessments and present levels of performance for IEP meetings and participate in development of appropriate IEP goals for students.
  • Train, supervise, and evaluate classroom lead teacher aide and education specialists.
  • Maintain current classroom information book, student program books, lesson plans, student's files, and emergency packets.
  • Maintain regular communication with parents or guardians regarding students' educational progress, programs, and activities.

Requirements:

  • Valid Illinois teaching license.
  • Valid LBS 1 certification (or meet all requirements for short term emergency approval for LBS 1 certification).
  • Valid Illinois driver's license.
  • Ability to meet all licensing standards of the Department of Human Services and the Department of Child and Family Services.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years experience as a Special Education Classroom Teacher.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
