Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly qualified Special Education Teacher to join our team at Springfield Public Schools. The successful candidate will be responsible for instructing assigned classes in the locations and at times designated, planning a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students, and creating a classroom environment that is conducive to learning.

Key Responsibilities:

* Instruct assigned classes in the locations and at times designated
* Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students
* Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning
* Guide the learning process toward the achievement of established district curriculum goals
* Prepare for classes assigned and show written evidence of preparation upon request
* Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media
* Strive to implement the district's philosophy of education, instructional goals, and objectives
* Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required
* Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations

Qualifications:

* Highly qualified with required competency in the content area
* Appropriate content/program area educator license (Teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities) and grade level licensure from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
* Bachelor's Degree with appropriate license; or Master's Degree with appropriate content area license preferred and/or expected within 5 years
