Job Description

**Job Summary:**

We are seeking a skilled Welder Specialist to join our team at Industrial Trade Services. As a key member of our fabrication team, you will be responsible for performing high-quality welding operations to meet the demands of our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Select and prepare materials and equipment according to specifications.
  • Plan and execute welding layouts, assembly, and welding operations, applying knowledge of geometry and physical properties of metal.
  • Operate various welding processes, including Gas-Metal Arc, Flux-Cored Arc, Gas-Tungsten Arc, Submerged Arc, and Shielded Metal Arc.
  • Lay out, position, and fit components together, using bolting, clamping, and welding techniques.
  • Connect and operate welding equipment, ensuring proper amperage, voltage, slope, and pulse settings.
  • Strike and maintain the arc, guiding the electrode or gun along the weld-line to achieve the desired depth of fusion and bead.
  • Clean and degrease weld joints and work areas, using wire brushes, portable grinders, or chemical baths.
  • Repair broken or cracked parts, fill holes, and remove excess weld, slag, and spatter.
  • Preheat work pieces using hand torches or heating furnaces, and cut metal plates or structural shapes.
  • Examine welds for bead size and other specifications, and load, transport, and unload materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Assist in lifting, positioning, and securing materials and work pieces during installation, and perform minor maintenance and cleaning activities.

Requirements:

  • Work within precise limits or standards of accuracy.
  • Make decisions based on measurable criteria.
  • Apply basic mathematics to solve problems.
  • Plan work and select proper tools.
  • Visualize objects in three dimensions from plans and drawings.
  • Compare and see differences in size, shape, and form of lines, figures, and objects.
