Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Automotive Restoration Specialist to join our team at the City of Memphis. As a key member of our Automotive Shop, you will be responsible for repairing, painting, and maintaining a variety of damaged vehicles, including cars and trucks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Repair and restore damaged vehicles to their original condition, including repairing and replacing body parts, fixtures, and electrical systems.
  • Apply paint and coatings to vehicle surfaces using various techniques and equipment.
  • Operate a range of tools and equipment, including MIG welders, plasma cutters, and sanders.
  • Perform electrical and mechanical repairs, including wiring and component replacement.
  • Ensure all work is completed to a high standard and in a safe and organized manner.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Operate transport equipment to move vehicles to designated locations.
  • Deliver or pick up necessary equipment or parts as required.
  • Perform other functions as assigned by management.
Working Conditions

This role will be performed in an Automotive Shop environment, with exposure to various weather conditions, confined spaces, dust, fumes, odors, and noise. Protective gear must be worn or used as necessary.

Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent and four (4) years' experience in paint and body repair, or any combination of experience and training which enables one to perform the essential job functions.
  • Valid driver's license required, Class 'B' Commercial Driver's License preferred.
  • Ability to lift equipment and materials weighing approximately 50 lbs.
  • Manual dexterity to use paint brushes and equipment.
