Position Summary:
The Welder-Fitter role involves the assembly and welding of rectangular tanks within our fabrication operations. This position requires the fabrication of components utilizing equipment such as press brakes and sheet metal shears. Candidates must be able to interpret technical drawings, perform routine maintenance, and inspect machinery. Additionally, the role entails maintaining a tidy workspace and adhering to safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Proficient in MIG welding, utilizing .045 wire with 90/10 NOS gas.
- Skilled in operating plasma and oxy-propane cutting torches.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, as well as measure accurately using a tape measure and protractor.
- Capable of following detailed instructions and working independently with minimal supervision.
- Experience with operating machinery such as Press Brakes, plate shears, and iron workers.
Compensation:
Our organization values craftsmanship and offers competitive pay. The average production standard rate is currently $27 per hour post-training, with skilled production welder-fitters earning substantial compensation.
Qualifications:
A high school diploma or GED is required, along with basic math skills including addition, subtraction, and reading decimals. Familiarity with charts, drawings, and measuring tools is essential.
Experience Requirements:
A minimum of three years of continuous employment in a commercial or industrial environment is preferred.
Physical Demands:
This position requires moderate physical exertion, including standing for extended periods and lifting up to 60 lbs. throughout the day. Good hand-eye coordination and visual acuity are necessary, along with the ability to climb, stoop, and bend as needed.
