Position Overview:

The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) is responsible for providing ongoing observation and individualized support for a designated group of patients under the guidance of a licensed nursing professional.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Deliver continuous, individualized observation and monitoring of assigned patients.

2. Implement evidence-based de-escalation techniques as necessary.

3. Ensure a secure environment for patients, self, and others.

4. Maintain vigilance and attentiveness at all times to safeguard the patient's well-being.

5. Administer direct patient care tasks such as measuring vital signs and transporting patients as directed by a licensed nurse.

6. Replenish linens and medical supplies as needed.

7. Accurately document observations, interventions, and relevant information in a timely manner using EPIC.

8. Prioritize and complete tasks for assigned patients efficiently.

9. Promptly notify nursing staff of any signs of distress, discomfort, or changes in the patient's condition.

10. Maintain a composed and professional demeanor for patients and their families.

11. Adhere to all protocols and procedures related to patient observation and safety.

12. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Technical Skills:

1. Familiarity with medical terminology is preferred.

2. Experience in a healthcare setting is advantageous.

3. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word) or similar applications is required.

4. Experience with electronic medical records (e.g., EPIC) is preferred.

Education and Experience:

1. High School Diploma or equivalent is mandatory.

2. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association is required.

3. A minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience is preferred.

4. No supervisory experience is necessary.
