Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Social Work

James Madison University is seeking a tenure-track assistant or associate professor of social work to join our dynamic Department of Social Work in the College of Health and Behavioral Studies.
Job SummaryWe are looking for a highly qualified individual to teach, conduct research, and provide service to the university and community. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to social work education and practice, with a focus on teaching, research, and service.
Responsibilities- Teach undergraduate and graduate-level courses in social work, including micro practice, macro practice, and research methods.
- Conduct research in social work, with a focus on areas such as family studies, community engagement, and social justice.
- Provide service to the university and community, including participating in departmental and college-level committees, and engaging in community-based projects.
Candidates must possess an MSW from a CSWE-accredited social work program, a minimum of two years of post-MSW agency-based practice, and a DSW, PhD, or other doctoral degree related to social work. ABD candidates with a date to fulfill requirements in their program of study with conferral of degree prior to August 1, 2025 may be considered.
Preferred QualificationsExperience teaching across multiple curricular areas at the undergraduate level, with micro practice and expertise in family systems. Additional consideration is given to candidates with experience in the nonprofit sector in support of the department's Nonprofit Studies Minor.
