Position Overview

Role Responsibilities

Key Activities:

  • Assist in the formulation and implementation of systems engineering strategies from initial requirements gathering to design validation. Ensure alignment with established project acquisition methodologies;
  • Conduct technical analyses and provide systems engineering support to enhance architecture design, interoperability, and specification development for various projects;
  • Create and manage test and evaluation documentation, including laboratory testing protocols and technology assessment reports;
  • Draft and refine systems and subsystem specification documents, ensuring compliance and consistency with current and future system requirements;
  • Engage in signal processing tasks, including waveform management and electronic protection strategies, while supporting data collection and analysis to evaluate signal processing effectiveness.

Work Environment:

Responsibilities may take place in office settings, laboratories, or field environments, supporting military organizations as needed. This may involve working in diverse locations, including naval vessels and other operational sites.

Physical Requirements:

Travel to various operational sites may be necessary, including naval piers and ships.

Qualifications

Education and Certifications:

Candidates must fulfill one or more of the following criteria:

  • A Bachelor's degree in an ABET-accredited engineering discipline such as Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, or Electronics Engineering;
  • A Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, or Physics from an accredited institution;
  • A Master's degree in one of the aforementioned fields;
  • A Ph.D. in a relevant engineering or science discipline.

Experience and Skills:

General Sensor Engineering Experience:

Experience is defined as post-degree professional practice:

  • At least four (4) years of experience with a Bachelor's degree;
  • At least two (2) years of experience with a Master's degree.

Specialized Experience:

Proven capability to perform complex calculations and a solid understanding of principles necessary for evaluating advanced sensor systems and conducting system integration.
