We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Assistant to join our team at Memphis-Shelby County Schools. As a key member of our educational community, you will play a vital role in providing a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students with disabilities.

About the Role

As a Special Education Assistant, you will work closely with special education teachers to instruct and supervise students with disabilities, ensuring a well-organized and smoothly functioning classroom environment. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting teachers in preparing instructional materials and preparing classrooms for activities
  • Supervising and assisting children in the classroom and other areas of the school
  • Reinforcing classroom lessons and providing additional support as needed
  • Coordinating special projects and programs as assigned

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of an Associate's Degree or two years of college (48 semester hours) from an accredited institution
  • One year of experience working with children in an educational setting (preferably with special needs students)
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid
