Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to join our Civil/Site team at Colliers Engineering & Design. As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for utilizing your leadership and engineering skills to perform design tasks and manage support staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review municipal zoning and land development ordinances and applicable agency regulations to determine land development limitations for the property.
  • Conduct site investigations and due diligence, including the review of ordinances, utility service research, outside agency regulations, and site visits to establish comprehensive development guidelines.
  • Prepare concept drawings based on client development objectives and conclusions of due diligence, involving coordination with AutoCAD draftsmen.
  • Lead the review and design of stormwater management and stormwater conveyance systems, including the use of AutoCAD Civil 3D and hydrology design software.
  • Prepare pipe sizing calculations for stormwater conveyance systems, including drainage area maps, surface runoff coefficients, invert, slope, velocity, and hydraulic grade line evaluation using the Rational Method and Manning's Equation.
  • Design grading to ensure value engineering is achieved through earthwork analysis, and site safety is accomplished through the use of appropriate design slopes.
  • Design subdivision and site plan layouts, including the design of utility systems, such as stormwater conveyance, sanitary sewer service, pump station design, water, gas, telephone service, and determination and resolution of vertical and horizontal utility conflicts.
  • Prepare soil erosion and sediment control designs, including stability calculations, best management practices, swale design, spillway design, and determination of construction sequence.
  • Prepare construction cost estimates based on site plan drawings as required for bonding and client purposes.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • 4-8 years of residential and/or commercial civil land development work experience.
  • PE preferred.
  • Knowledge of local municipal, county, and state land use, planning, and zoning processes and regulations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in technical skills in stormwater management, hydraulics, hydrological analysis, grading, and other site development-related designs.
  • Demonstrated Civil 3D skills with the ability to design site layouts concept through completion.
  • Self-starter who can work independently and with team members.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
