About the Role

The City of Charlotte is seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer/Manager to join our Engineering Services team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the design and management of various capital improvement projects, focusing on transportation infrastructure design.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply engineering design principles to develop construction plans, specifications, and estimates for municipal transportation infrastructure projects.
  • Develop preliminary and final plans and designs using computer-aided design (CAD and Civil3D) and other engineering tools and software.
  • Responsible for all design features, including roadway alignments and profiles, traffic control, utilities, drainage, hydrology and hydraulics, grading, erosion control, pavement markings, cross sections, and other features needed to design a complete project.
  • Work performed is technical and detailed, requiring application of professional engineering principles.
  • Plan and prioritize the necessary tasks to complete all construction documents.
  • Prepare cost estimates.
  • Prepare and manage project budgets and schedules using Munis, Primavera, and Excel.
  • Manage projects from planning through construction.
  • Seal plans as a PE in accordance with State laws (as applicable).
  • Prepare record drawings in accordance with State requirements.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field with three (3) years of relevant work experience in civil engineering.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) strongly preferred.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in civil engineering, including experience in geometric roadway design and storm drainage design.
