Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop engineering documentation for construction initiatives. This involves gathering and analyzing field data, performing engineering calculations to establish design parameters, and identifying optimal solutions to address existing challenges within budget constraints. While calculations and project documents undergo quality assurance and quality control, the ultimate responsibility lies with the engineer.
  • Execute construction management responsibilities. This includes facilitating initial meetings with contractors to outline project details, obtaining and evaluating pricing proposals, and advising clients on project awards. Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with engineered project documents and coordinate with contractors to resolve any identified deficiencies. Assess, analyze, and implement solutions to conflicts arising during construction.
  • Conduct thorough assessments and investigations. Responsibilities include selecting appropriate methodologies, assembling and operating testing equipment, and overseeing the creation and repair of openings in roofing and wall systems. Document existing conditions and deficiencies, providing actionable recommendations for enhancements.
  • Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned.

Required Skills and Knowledge:

  • Proficient understanding of materials and installation techniques utilized in roofing, wall, and other building envelope systems.
  • Familiarity with Building Codes and engineering calculations, applying engineering judgment to real-world conditions.
  • Ability to interpret project specifications, submittals, and related documentation, identifying discrepancies between actual construction and project requirements, and effectively communicating these discrepancies in both verbal and written formats.
  • Competence in operating assessment and investigation equipment, including infrared cameras, electrical capacitance meters, and water testing devices. Strong communication skills are essential.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Competent in word processing, spreadsheet management, and general computer skills.

Education and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • Professional Engineer license (NC).
  • Possession of or progress towards Registered Consultant certification.

Work Experience: A minimum of four years of professional engineering experience in a related field, ideally within a consulting or engineering firm. Relevant formal education or technical training may be considered as part of the experience.

Physical and Environmental Requirements:

  • Ability to perform moderate lifting (approximately 50 pounds).
  • Capability to stand or walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to climb ladders as required.
