Job Summary

The Sales Lead is a key role model at Build-A-Bear Workshop, responsible for leading a team of associates and providing exceptional Guest service. As a Leader on Duty, you will be in charge of the store's operation, including leading a team, modeling Experience First behaviors, and enhancing the Guest experience while achieving sales goals.

Responsibilities

When designated as the Leader on Duty, you will:

  • Lead a team of associates to consistently model the Experience First standards and behaviors
  • Communicate clear expectations and hold the store team and self accountable for achieving all brand, performance and behavior standards
  • Energize associates to ensure proper coverage, exceptional Guest service, completion of daily tasks and adherence to company standards
  • Delegate to associate team effectively
  • Maintain a positive and motivational style in all communication and actions to promote productivity and ownership
  • Drive associate engagement by recognizing and rewarding employees for outstanding performance
  • Build a highly satisfied and loyal customer base through engagement, conversion and capturing Guest information for the loyalty program
  • Audit daily punches to ensure accuracy and compliance with BABW payroll and timekeeping policies and procedures
  • Adhere to and enforce all BABW store security and cash management policies and procedures
  • Ensure store is always Grand Opening ready by following opening and closing procedures
  • Operate and maintain all IT systems in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Use good judgment and partner with Chief Workshop Manager to make necessary decisions within the company's guidelines
  • Insure compliance with all company policies and procedures as well as federal, state, local and provincial laws.
  • Communicate any Guest service and/or associate issues to the Chief Workshop Manager in a timely fashion and collaborate on resolution of all issues

Responsibilities as a Bear Builder

You will also:

  • Use the Make Behaviors and Experience First station standards to provide a personalized, enjoyable and memorable experience for Guests of all ages
  • Invite potential Guests to come in and learn about our store
  • Promptly welcome and greet all Guests with a smile
  • Engage Guests in conversation through open-ended questions and assesses reason for visit. Utilizes this information to help Guests find the perfect product and convert those "just looking" into a sale
  • Inform Guests of all current promotions and points out our newest product
  • Explain the Build-A-Bear Workshop process and assists Guests in choosing, stuffing, dressing, naming, and taking home (purchasing) a new furry friend
  • Contribute to total store results by recommending items to maximize sales and enhance the Guest's experience
  • Insure Guests are aware that we offer parties for all ages and all occasions
  • Support our company party commitments by delivering a great party experience
  • Is aware of workshop sales goals, Guest satisfaction expectations, and promotional objectives
  • Maintain visual and housekeeping standards to create the brand experience unique to Build-A-Bear Workshop
  • Follow all company policies and procedures including but not limited to Cash Management, Attendance, and Store Security
  • All other tasks as may be assigned by store management

Qualifications

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • A minimum of one + years of experience providing exceptional Guest service in the workshop
  • Availability for a flexible schedule that meets the needs of the business
  • A minimum of high school diploma or GED equivalent. College degree a plus
  • Ambition and success orientation
  • Outstanding leadership and selling skills
  • Models personal and professional integrity
  • Excellent interpersonal communications skills, including verbal and written communication
  • Organized and planful; pays attention to details
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced work environment
  • Fosters a high-energy environment and demonstrates an appreciation for children of all ages
