About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Operations Director to lead our sterilization services team at Sotera Health Services, LLC. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for the overall operation and performance of our sterilization facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate Collaboration: Ensure seamless interaction among all facility functions, including customer service, logistics, maintenance, operations, quality assurance, safety, and training.
  • Develop Customer Relationships: Work closely with the sales department to build and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Ensure Safe and Efficient Operations: Oversee the processing of customer products, ensuring compliance with specifications and procedures.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture of continuous improvement, focusing on safety, quality, productivity, and operational efficiency.
  • Compliance and Regulatory Affairs: Ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements, including FDA, OSHA, and NRC.
  • Financial Management: Administer and manage annual budgets for capital and operating expenses, operating within budget.
  • Leadership and Representation: Represent the organization to industry groups, key customers, government representatives, and regulatory agencies.
  • Strategic Planning: Work with human resources to develop and implement short- and long-range operating objectives, facility organizational structure, staffing requirements, and succession plans.
  • Process Optimization: Implement critical strategies to secure competitive advantage in business processes, workflow, cycle time reductions, supplier relationships, and quality and compliance.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze facility statistical data to inform decision-making.
  • Problem-Solving: Integrate activities between facility departments to resolve problems associated with sustaining product, including process improvements and new technology.
  • Resource Optimization: Interface with senior executive team members to optimize resources from each functional area, including safety, finance, sales, engineering, human resources, and quality.
  • Health and Safety: Prioritize health and safety procedures, ensuring a clean, safe, and environmentally responsible manufacturing operation.
  • Productivity and Cost Management: Achieve maximum productivity levels, ensuring the business benefits from the lowest possible cost and best value.
Supervision and Leadership
  • Supervise Quality Assurance Manager: Oversee the quality assurance manager and other facility personnel as needed.
Requirements
  • Education: Undergraduate degree required, preferably in a science-related field.
  • Experience: 5-10 years of progressive experience in a production environment, operations, or manufacturing, including 3-5 years of supervisory/management experience, preferably in the medical services/products industry.
  • Industry Knowledge: Specific experience within the operations function of the medical device industry.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong general business knowledge, operations leadership background, and understanding of systems and key drivers within an operations environment.
  • Compliance and Quality: Strong knowledge of compliance, quality, and safety as relates to regulatory agencies, including FDA, OSHA, and NRC.
  • Communication and Teamwork: Excellent teamwork, leadership, relationship building, mentoring, training, and project management experience and skills.
  • Strategic Thinking: Balance of strategic and tactical thinking skills, with the ability to analyze and draw information for long-term strategic change and improvement.
  • Organizational and Communication Skills: Exceptional organizational and communication skills, with the ability to interface with all levels across the organization.
  • Results-Oriented: Results-oriented with a positive, professional attitude and a sense of urgency to get things done.
  • Computer Skills: Above-average computer skills in analysis using databases/spreadsheets.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Salary Range: $110,000 - $188,500 per year, depending on experience.
Training and Development
  • Required Training: Must complete all required training for an Operations Director outlined in the training manual.
