Position Overview
The Aircraft Structure Assembly Specialist is responsible for executing a range of tasks that include both repetitive and non-repetitive assembly operations. This role involves analyzing processes for potential improvements and may include distributing tasks and objectives while coordinating with technical support teams. Additionally, this position assists in training new operators and conducting process evaluations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Execute various assembly tasks on structural components and subcomponents, ranging from repetitive to complex operations.
2. Interpret diagrams and blueprints, perform initial layouts, and utilize hand and power tools, jigs, and saws.
3. Conduct continuity checks on work in progress and completed assemblies.
4. Perform quality inspections on the production line in accordance with established quality standards.
5. Disassemble, modify, rework, reassemble, and test experimental or prototype assemblies as per specifications and under simulated conditions.
6. Adhere to approved assembly procedures for components or aircraft structures, consulting FAA-approved internal procedures, OEM technical data, and work package instructions.
7. Position and align subassemblies in jigs or fixtures using measuring instruments, following blueprint guidelines.
8. Inspect completed work to identify any necessary rework before final approval; ensure that repaired components meet required standards and tolerances.
9. Conduct serviceability tests as needed, using specified test equipment.
10. Complete work package documentation in accordance with internal quality processes and FAA regulations.
11. Submit completed work for Quality Assurance inspection and certification of airworthiness.
Qualifications
Required:
- High School diploma or GED.
- Proficiency in drilling, riveting, and installation of related hardware, along with the use of precision instruments and hand tools.
- Familiarity with composite part fabrication.
- Ability to read work orders, blueprints, and specifications.
- Knowledge of paste/secondary bonded structures.
- Understanding of machines and tools, including their design, use, repair, and maintenance.
- Proficiency in using air-powered hand tools and related equipment.
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and techniques for optimizing manufacturing and distribution.
Desired:
- A minimum of three years of experience in aircraft composite assembly, mechanical assembly, or aircraft structures, with the ability to utilize technical data and aircraft drawings effectively.
- A&P and mechanical experience is advantageous.
Working Conditions:
- Ability to work safely and professionally, adhering to all regulatory requirements, including OSHA and EPA standards.
- Flexibility to work varying hours and shifts as necessary.
Compensation:
Joby offers a competitive compensation package that includes base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position ranges from $26 to $38 per hour, determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Additionally, Joby provides a comprehensive benefits package, including paid time off, healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan with company matching, an employee stock purchase plan (ESPP), short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, and more.
