Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and supervise the Echo Department and staff to ensure efficient and effective operation.
  • Responsible for performing adult echocardiography competently and taking on-call duties.
  • Monitor supplies, maintain equipment, and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Assist with maintaining Infection Control standards, transport patients, and participate in Risk Management.
  • Promote Guest Relations, act as a mentor and teacher for new staff and students, and handle individual problems regarding staff, morale, procedures, salary adjustments, safety, and discipline.
  • Manage the departmental in-service program, conduct regular staff meetings, and handle the interviewing and hiring process for supervised employees.
  • Prepare and review employee performance assessments, attend Hospital Committee meetings, and create and organize work schedules.
  • Ensure adequate staffing to cover absences, time off, and Leave of Absence, and handle administrative tasks of the department.
  • Manage inventory of technical supplies, coordinate purchasing and inventory control, and stay updated on new procedures, equipment, and methods.

Requirements:

  • Good oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Visual and hearing senses must be adequate to detect changes in human physiological condition.
  • Able to function calmly in a fast-paced, stressful environment.
  • Experience in echocardiographic examination of patients in any setting, including acute care.
  • Performs duties and conducts interpersonal relationships in a manner designed to project a positive image of the department and the hospital.
  • Works with supervisor/manager and other members of the section or department to promote a harmonious work environment.
  • Ensures that all contacts with patients, the public, physicians, and other hospital personnel are carried out in a friendly, courteous, helpful, and considerate manner.
  • Answers telephones in a prompt and courteous manner and displays concern and aids or explains procedures as appropriate to callers or in face-to-face situations.
  • Dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers.
  • Works with customers to identify problem areas and recommend solutions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Holds current BLS card and ACLS card preferred.
  • Registry in Cardiac Sonography preferred.
  • Associate degree in cardiovascular field or related field of study.

Language Skills:

  • Ability to effectively communicate (verbally and in writing) in English.
  • Ability to write legibly (Clinical Areas).
  • Additional languages desirable.
