Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the security and safety of inmates, staff, and visitors by conducting regular patrols and monitoring surveillance systems.
  • Supervise inmates to prevent injury to themselves or others, and respond to emergencies as needed.
  • Conduct searches for contraband materials and ensure that all inmates are accounted for and secured in their cells.
  • Provide inmates with daily living needs, including clothing, meals, and recreational activities.
  • Transport inmates to different locations within the facility or to external locations, maintaining control at all times.
  • Process various documentation associated with department operations, including reports, forms, and correspondence.
  • Operate a personal computer to enter, retrieve, and review data, and utilize various equipment and software as necessary.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent required; one year of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid Georgia driver's license required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evening meetings, and to multi-task and work within deadlines.
  • Ability to deal with confidential and sensitive matters, and to work effectively with the public and co-workers.
Working Conditions

The work is performed both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, and may require standing for extended periods of time. Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, hazardous materials, traffic hazards, toxic agents, human bites, explosives, firearms, violence, disease, and pathogenic substances.
