Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Deputy Sheriff to join our team at Henry County, GA. As a Deputy Sheriff, you will play a critical role in maintaining law and order, protecting life and property, and enforcing all local, state, and federal laws.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enforce all local and state codes, ordinances, laws, and regulations to protect life and property and maintain law and order.
  • Assist with provision of courtroom security, including maintaining a security presence in County courtrooms and assisting with courtroom proceedings and documentation.
  • Conduct security checks of courthouse offices, judges' chambers, parking lots, and other areas of the courthouse.
  • Transport inmates to and from assigned locations, including courts, jails, detention centers, correctional institutions, prisons, medical facilities, and regional youth detention centers.
  • Serve felony and misdemeanor warrants and civil papers, including arresting individuals named in warrants and conducting investigations to locate individuals named in criminal and civil papers.
  • Respond to calls relayed by dispatchers, including responding to alarms, domestic disputes, assaults, burglaries, traffic accidents, lost or missing persons searches, rescue operations, public service duties, welfare checks, stranded motorists, and other calls for assistance.
  • Patrol designated areas to detect and deter criminal activity and traffic violations, including preventing and discovering commission of crime and traffic violations, responding to calls relayed by dispatchers, apprehending, arresting, and processing criminals, fugitives, and offenders, and writing citations.
  • Process a variety of documentation associated with department/division operations, including receiving and reviewing various documentation, reviewing, completing, processing, forwarding, or retaining as appropriate, preparing or completing various forms, reports, correspondence, and other documentation, compiling data for further processing or for use in preparation of department reports, and maintaining computerized and/or hardcopy records.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required; supplemented by one year of work experience that shows an ability to maintain steady employment in any field.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license and Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification.
Working Conditions

Deputy Sheriffs work in a fast-paced environment with frequent exposure to stressful situations, including emergency calls, confrontations with individuals, and exposure to hazardous materials. They must be able to work effectively in a team environment and maintain a high level of physical fitness to perform the duties of the job.
