Job SummaryThis role will be based in a manufacturing facility and report directly to the plant Safety Manager. The primary responsibility will be to assist in the development and implementation of new safety projects and programs, ensuring a safe working environment for all employees.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with the plant Safety Manager to develop and implement new safety initiatives and programs.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive training programs and safeguards for new equipment and processes.
- Research and procure necessary items for plant safety improvements.
- Organize and maintain new hire safety training and compliance acknowledgments.
- Conduct and maintain annual training, including forklift driving certifications, first-aid certifications, LOTO (Lock Out Tag Out) certifications, and other required training.
- Ensure the plant is OSHA compliant and familiar with all applicable regulations.
- Enforce compliance of PPE and safe work practices to promote a positive and lasting Safety Culture.
- Keep the plant stocked with proper safety supplies and PPE.
- Perform monthly plant safety audits and maintain all regulated frequent inspections.
- Verify routine equipment inspections are properly conducted and compliance is maintained in all areas of the plant.
- Ensure all safeguards are in place and working properly.
- Conduct and report all incident investigations, determining root cause and corrective plans.
- Provide first aid response and treatment for employee injuries, transporting injured workers to seek medical treatment when needed.
- Guide employees through the workers' compensation process alongside plant HR.
- Maintain accurate and concise records of all safety-related documents and processes.
- 0-5 years of experience in a related field.
- 2 or 4-year degree in mechanical engineering, mechanical engineering technology, Fire Protection Safety Engineering technology, Environmental health and safety sciences, or equivalent.
- Self-starter with solid communication skills.
- Manufacturing experience preferred.
- Familiarity with process improvement and lean-related principles (Kaizen, 5/6 S, 6 Sigma, etc.).
