KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Engage actively with students, assisting them with their daily routines and transitions throughout the day.
  • Support teaching staff by providing direct assistance to students during both individualized and group instruction, ensuring adherence to each student's IEP goals and objectives.
  • Implement classroom routines, schedules, community-based instruction, lesson plans, and behavior support strategies in accordance with the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis.
  • Maintain organization of classroom materials and ensure all supplies are safe and in good condition, including cleaning and sanitizing classroom areas.
  • Participate in all scheduled meetings, training sessions, and work hours, adhering to attendance and punctuality policies.
  • Promote a cooperative working environment that maximizes productivity and enhances employee morale.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The Educational Support Specialist position is situated within our Special Education Department, characterized by a lively and energetic atmosphere. This role is suitable for:
  • Individuals with gaps in their employment history or those returning to the workforce after a break.
  • New entrants to the workforce or those with limited experience and education.
  • Job seekers of all ages, including older candidates.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • High School Diploma.
  • Experience in special education instruction.
  • Experience working with individuals with autism, developmental disabilities, and mental health diagnoses.
  • Level 1 Medication Aid certification (must be obtained within 6 months of employment).
  • Successful completion of a physical fitness assessment prior to employment commencement is required for all direct care staff.
The role of Educational Support Specialist is open to candidates with a High School Diploma or fewer than 60 credit hours.
