  • Demonstrated experience in performing general cleaning tasks effectively and efficiently;
  • Comprehensive understanding of custodial duties, including the safe and proper use of various cleaning materials and equipment;
  • Ability to operate custodial tools such as vacuum cleaners, floor buffers, mops, and other cleaning devices while ensuring a safe environment;
  • Strong teamwork skills, with the ability to work positively and collaboratively as part of a custodial team;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to interact professionally and positively with colleagues, faculty, staff, and students;
  • Proficiency in computer usage and the ability to comprehend verbal and written instructions;
  • Willingness to accept direction from supervisors and adapt positively to feedback and changes in assignments;
  • Flexibility in daily tasks and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision;
  • A valid Florida driver's license is required;
  • Preferred qualifications include:
    • An Associate's degree from an accredited institution.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The essential functions and responsibilities for this position encompass, but are not limited to:

  • Conducting cleaning and minor maintenance of facilities, including classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and common areas.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The specific duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Performing cleaning and maintenance tasks such as sweeping, window cleaning, mopping, vacuuming, and trash disposal;
  • Engaging in floor maintenance activities, including scrubbing, waxing, buffing, and carpet cleaning;
  • Assisting faculty and students with directions and information regarding campus locations is a vital part of this role;
  • Embracing additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisors or management.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Physical abilities required for this position include the capability to operate cleaning equipment and the endurance to walk, bend, and stand for extended periods. The role may involve lifting, reaching, stooping, climbing stairs and ladders, and occasionally carrying items exceeding 50 pounds. Candidates must be in good physical condition to perform the required tasks. Knowledge and dexterity in operating standard custodial machines such as buffers and extractors are also essential. Adherence to safety standards is expected from all employees.
