About the Position

LAANE is seeking a dedicated Worker Organizer to join our Retail and Grocery team, committed to advancing social justice and labor rights.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage and mobilize non-union retail and grocery workers to build a strong activist base.
  • Develop and implement strategies to recruit and develop worker leaders in the retail industry.
  • Collaborate with the Organizing Director and other team members to advance the Retail and Grocery campaign.
  • Conduct outreach and education to workers on labor rights and social justice issues.
  • Build relationships with community partners and labor organizations to advance the campaign's goals.
Requirements
  • Strong commitment to social justice, labor rights, and community organizing.
  • At least 2 years of experience in labor organizing, preferably in a worker center or base-building organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and develop leaders, recruit and mobilize workers, and build a strong activist base.
  • Familiarity with local and state labor laws, including worksite health and safety.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups and individuals, and navigate sensitive issues in a mature and respectful manner.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to work independently and collectively within a team.
