Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Union Representative/Organizer to join our team at Service Employees International Union. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading strategic campaigns to promote the interests of our members and advance the goals of our union.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic plans to organize and mobilize members around key issues and campaigns.
- Build and maintain relationships with members, worksite leaders, and other stakeholders to identify and address their needs and concerns.
- Recruit, train, and develop worksite leaders and stewards to take on leadership roles and advance the union's goals.
- Develop and maintain effective communication networks to keep members informed and engaged.
- Coordinate strategic campaigns to support contract negotiations, meet and confer, and other union activities.
- Represent members in grievance and arbitration proceedings, and mobilize members to take action around issues in the workplace.
- Process grievances and appeals up to and including final level of SPB, PERB, NLRB, or arbitration.
Requirements
- College degree preferred, but not required.
- Valid driver's license, car, and insurance.
- Commitment to social justice and building power for workers.
