Job Summary

As a Systems Engineer at Demo - Maximus, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability. Your primary responsibilities will include installing, configuring, testing, and maintaining operating systems, storage area networks, application software, and system management tools.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability
  • Suggest improvements to IT operations or make suggestions regarding equipment choices
  • Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies
  • Provide 2nd and 3rd level support
  • Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution
  • Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure
  • Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with management and developers to implement those fixes
  • Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks
  • Participate in the design of information and operational support systems

Requirements:

  • BA/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related subject preferred
  • 5+ years as a system administrator or similar role
  • Proven working experience in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Windows-based environments
  • Proven experience in the administration and performance tuning of application stacks
  • Experience with virtualization and containerization (e.g., VMware, Virtual Box)
  • Experience with monitoring systems
  • Experience with automation software
  • Solid scripting skills (e.g., shell scripts, Perl, Power Shell)
  • Solid networking knowledge (OSI network layers, TCP/IP)
