Job Summary

The City of New York is seeking a skilled Carpentry Supervisor to join our Facilities and Logistics team. As a key member of our maintenance and repair unit, you will oversee the work of carpenters and other assigned personnel in the installation and repair of building components.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise the work of carpenters and other assigned personnel in the installation and repair of building components.
  • Make decisions relative to work procedures and prepare work schedules and make work assignments.
  • Conduct field inspections in connection with carpentry installations and components of systems relative to work progress or need for alterations, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Prepare job orders and tool and material requisitions.
  • Supervise the complete operation of the department shop and consult with staff personnel, contractors, inspectors, and manufacturers' representatives in connection with department work.
  • Prepare reports and keep records.
  • Ensure all projects meet NYC DOB, DOH, and FDNY safety standards and regulations.

Requirements

  • Seven (7) years of recent, satisfactory, full-time, paid experience as a carpenter, at least two (2) years of which must have been spent in duties of a supervisory nature.
  • A satisfactory equivalent.
