Position Overview
The Automotive Service Consultant is dedicated to providing an exceptional experience for our members while ensuring the efficient workflow of our technicians. This role involves active listening and asking the right questions to accurately diagnose vehicle service needs, all while upholding the highest standards of customer satisfaction. Responsibilities include delivering courteous service, clearly communicating services and costs, providing accurate timelines for completion, and ensuring quality workmanship.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with members to assess their automotive repair needs and exceed their expectations for outstanding service.
- Document repairs, diagnostics, and maintenance tasks accurately in the shop management system.
- Ensure compliance with all necessary requirements in the preparation and documentation of repair orders.
- Source and estimate parts required for vehicle repairs.
- Recommend repairs for safety and performance enhancements, prioritizing them based on safety, cost-effectiveness, and longevity.
- Review completed repairs with customers at the point of sale, ensuring they understand the work performed from the initial estimate to final payment.
- Perform basic record-keeping and administrative tasks to support business operations.
- Note: Travel to various locations may be required as needed.
Qualifications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in the required languages for the role.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours based on business needs.
- Proficient in math and computer skills, with experience in software applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, browsers, and email.
- Strong focus on member service.
- Background in automotive/mechanical fields.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record is required.
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) is necessary.
- 3-5 years of experience in the automotive repair industry is preferred.
- Automotive Service Excellence certification is a plus.
Work Environment
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
- Physical tasks may include standing, bending, kneeling, pushing, reaching, lifting, and climbing ladders.
