Job Title: Finance Specialist

Join the International Rescue Committee (IRC) as a Finance Specialist and contribute to the organization's mission of providing humanitarian aid and support to vulnerable populations.

About the Role:

The Finance Specialist will play a critical role in ensuring the accurate and timely management of financial resources, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. This position will work closely with the finance team to implement financial systems, policies, and procedures that support the IRC's mission and goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure compliance with IRC's accounting policies and procedures, as well as generally accepted accounting principles and donor requirements.
  • Coordinate the implementation of IRC's internal control procedures to safeguard the organization's assets.
  • Support daily financial activities, including preparing entries and approving invoice journals, invoicing and reporting on accounts receivables, and resolving journal entry discrepancies.
  • Assist in month-end/year-end closing tasks, including preparing monthly billing, producing variance analysis reports, and reconciling accounts.
  • Build and maintain a comprehensive understanding of donor policies, regulations, and procedures, and share this knowledge with the programs team.
Requirements:
  • Preferably a bachelor's or associate degree in finance, or equivalent professional experience in a non-profit setting.
  • Strong commitment to ensuring the success of the IRC mission while adhering to the values of service, accountability, integrity, and equality as defined in the IRC Way.
  • Solid computer-based accounting skills, including spreadsheets and other financial related software programs.
  • Proficient in general office software programs like MS Word, Excel, email, and internet.
  • Proven track record to work as a team member in a cross-cultural environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to optimally work with remote teams through telephone, email, videoconference, and other methods of correspondence.
  • Fluency in English, written and spoken.
Working Environment:

Standard office work environment.
