Position Overview:
The Clinical Nurse Coordinator for the Sepsis Program is responsible for evaluating, planning, executing, and coordinating treatment protocols from diagnosis through recovery. This role specifically assists patients in navigating the collaborative care process with all healthcare providers and ancillary support services while offering educational resources throughout their care journey.
The coordinator will engage with physicians and nursing staff to ensure that all care adheres to evidence-based practices. They will provide education to patients and their families during hospital stays and serve as a vital resource for them post-discharge.
Active participation in patient care rounds is essential.
The coordinator will work closely with the program director to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and will conduct chart reviews and data collection for performance improvement initiatives within the program.
Collaboration with the director is key in developing and implementing evidence-based policies and standards for the program.

The role involves assessing, planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating activities that foster professional growth and ongoing competence among care site providers and students.

The coordinator will maintain and analyze data related to the assigned program and will serve as the subject matter expert. Additionally, they will establish and uphold a Quality Assurance program.
The position promotes the mission, vision, and values of Intermountain Healthcare and adheres to service behavior standards.
Availability for on-call duties during scheduled shifts may be required. Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is mandatory.
A current Registered Nurse license in the state of practice is required. Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP) certification is necessary upon hire or must be obtained within 60 days of hire with prior approval (ACLS/NRP/PALS as applicable for the unit or service).
A minimum of three years of relevant RN experience is required. Preferred qualifications include a Master's degree in Nursing and certification relevant to the unit or service.

To excel in this role, the individual must effectively perform each essential duty.

  • Regular attendance during scheduled business hours or shifts is required.
  • Ability to work nights and/or weekends is necessary for specific positions.

Physical Requirements:

Continuous need for the employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, and identify equipment and supplies. Frequent interactions with patients, care providers, and visitors require effective verbal communication and the ability to hear and understand spoken information, especially during emergencies. Manual dexterity is essential for handling complex and delicate equipment with precision.
This includes frequent computer use for documenting patient care, accessing information, and preparing medications.
The role requires lifting and utilizing a full range of motion to assist patients, as well as bending to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment, which may include heavy items.
Employees are expected to walk and assist with transporting patients and distributing supplies and equipment, including pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment.
Navigating crowded environments and standing for extended periods may also be necessary.
