Position Overview:
The Clinical Nurse Educator will serve as a key resource in advancing educational standards within the surgical services domain, empowering caregivers through professional development and self-improvement initiatives.

This role involves evaluating, guiding, and supporting caregivers' orientation and continuous learning requirements, ensuring alignment with specific programs, services, or care groups.

Under the supervision of the Education Manager, the Clinical Nurse Educator will act as a mentor, consultant, and resource for caregivers and clinical coaches, promoting self-sufficiency and fostering teamwork.

Travel to various healthcare facilities may be required to fulfill job responsibilities.



Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver clinical expertise in the surgical services area for patients, families, and a diverse range of healthcare professionals. Employ the nursing process for each patient, encompassing assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Collaborate with the multidisciplinary care team to enhance patient care.
  • Provide individualized and group education sessions for patients and their families. Conduct thorough assessments of patients' physical and emotional conditions, identifying their learning needs and any specific requirements to create a conducive learning atmosphere.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource for healthcare professionals within the hospital, home care, and community settings regarding surgical specialties.
  • Consult with physicians to develop comprehensive treatment and educational plans for patients. Create effective communication tools to facilitate education and disease management.
  • Uphold and promote the mission, vision, and values of SCL Health while adhering to service behavior standards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is required.
- Current and valid Registered Nurse license from the state licensing board.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
- Additional specialty certifications may be necessary.
- A minimum of three (3) years of relevant nursing experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced Care Life Support (ACLS) certification is preferred.
- Previous experience in formal educational activities is advantageous.

Employees must be able to see and read information, assess patient needs, operate monitors, and identify equipment and supplies. Frequent interaction with patients and care providers requires effective verbal communication and the ability to quickly comprehend spoken information, especially in emergencies.
Manual dexterity is necessary for operating delicate equipment.
Physical tasks may include lifting, transferring patients, and navigating busy environments. Employees may also need to stand for extended periods and assist with transporting patients.
