Job Summary

The Office of Finance and Operations is seeking a highly skilled Human Resources Assistant to join our team. As a Human Resources Assistant, you will be responsible for providing administrative support to the Human Resources team, including coding and processing personnel actions, maintaining personnel records, and providing assistance with on-boarding new employees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coding and processing various types of personnel actions, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Maintaining personnel records, including scanning and uploading documents to employees' Electronic Official Personnel Folder (eOPF) or a similar system.
  • Providing assistance with on-boarding new employees, including preparing employment packets and coordinating with other Federal agencies.
  • Generating and distributing various Human Resources reports on a regular and recurring basis.
  • Drafting vacancy announcements and reviewing applicant qualifications.
Requirements
  • One year of experience in either federal or non-federal service that is equivalent to at least a GS-06 performing two (2) out of three (3) of the following duties or work assignments:
  • Experience coding and processing various types of personnel actions ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Experience scanning and uploading documents to employees' Electronic Official Personnel Folder (eOPF) or a similar system, ensuring that documents are legible and indexed in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
  • Experience providing assisting with on-boarding new employees.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
  • Skill in personnel coding and processing procedures to manage the appropriate disposition of personnel forms and related documentation.
  • Knowledge of Human Resources regulations, principles, policies, rules and terminology to research, analyze and organize facts related to a variety of situations, respond to a variety of Human Resources-related inquiries, resolve technical discrepancies and provide advice/make recommendations in support of one or more Human Resources specialty area(s) or program(s).
  • Knowledge of personnel record keeping procedures and organizational structure to maintain personnel references and/or organization files. Practical knowledge of the Privacy Act and Freedom of Information Act to assure confidentiality of documents and records and to safeguard all personnel and payroll information.
Working Conditions

This position is located in the Office of Finance and Operations, Office of Human Resources, Recruitment, Staffing, and Compensation Division (RSCD). The selected candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment and must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
