Highway Engineer Job Description

Fisher Associates is seeking a highly motivated and talented Highway Engineer to join our dynamic Transportation Group. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, constructing, maintaining, and managing highways, roads, and transportation infrastructure.

You will work closely with our experienced engineers and project managers to ensure the safe and efficient movement of vehicles and pedestrians. Your expertise will be essential in developing plans, specifications, reports, and cost estimates for various projects.

We are looking for a team player who is proactive, self-motivated, and eager to learn. If you have a strong background in civil engineering and are passionate about transportation infrastructure, we encourage you to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop highway projects, including drainage design, alignments, and other related tasks
  • Assist with field inspections and data collection for roadway projects
  • Develop plans, specifications, reports, and cost estimates
  • Coordinate with reviewers and other disciplines to ensure accuracy and quality of work
  • Proactively assist Project Managers and Designers
  • Work collaboratively with other team members, consultants, and clients
  • Maintain accurate records of project details, including design documents, progress reports, and budget information

Requirements:

  • B.S. degree in Civil Engineering or related field (MS preferred)
  • 0-5 years minimum of transportation experience, highway engineering experience preferred
  • Intern Engineer certification (IE, formerly EIT) or ability to obtain it
  • Experience with MicroStation, AutoCAD, OpenRoads Software preferred
