User Experience Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled User Experience Specialist to join our team at the University of Virginia's College at Wise. The successful candidate will be responsible for integrating user needs and experiences in all aspects of the UVA Wise Library's current and future virtual and in-person public services and facility spaces.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage all aspects of user experiences, public services, and learning space functions.
- Support the academic initiatives of the College's faculty, students, staff, researchers, and community patrons.
- Perform general to complex tasks associated with day-to-day service support, FWS student supervision and mentoring, patron functions, and facility/environmental operations.
- Collaborate with library personnel to assess, develop, and revise policies, space configuration/usage, and workflows.
- Broad knowledge of library services and automated library systems.
- Knowledge of online information systems, word processing, spreadsheet, telephone, and other equipment.
- Experience assessing and responding to routine, non-routine, and moderately complex patron, technology, or facility needs.
- Leadership and team-building skills to motivate, counsel, supervise, and terminate student workers.
- Broad knowledge of various access services, including circulation, inventory, data collection, document fulfillment, and reserves functions.
- Strong customer service/public relations skills.
- Supervisory skills, with academic library supervision experience preferred.
- Demonstrated technology skills, including Word, PowerPoint, Access, Excel, and service-based technology.
- Problem-solving skills, initiative, follow-through, and attention to detail.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Maintain confidentiality in all professional matters.
- Work independently, identify, and modify work priorities as needed or directed.
- Apply broad knowledge of library functions and understanding to train, supervise, evaluate, and mentor student worker personnel.
- Work collegially and courteously with multicultural populations and varying educational levels.
