POSITION OVERVIEW

The Bureau of Financial Operations' Division of Audit and Review invites you to explore a fulfilling career as an Audit Specialist 2. This role involves providing auditing, assessment, and technical support to various program offices within the Department of Human Services. ROLE DESCRIPTION

In this capacity, you will function as a staff auditor and, on occasion, take on the responsibilities of the Auditor-In-Charge (AIC). Your duties will include collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data, along with reviewing documentation and records, which encompass relevant laws, regulations, and policies. You will be tasked with documenting your activities using appropriate work papers and analytical tools. Your work will involve conducting audits, assessments, or providing technical assistance related to government-operated or funded programs, as well as special investigations into suspected fraud and abuse.


Furthermore, you will prepare audit reports in accordance with Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS). The ideal candidate should possess a solid understanding of GAGAS. This position allows you to demonstrate your exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, as you will present report findings to management and compose comprehensive reports, memos, and letters. Please note that travel is a requirement for this role.


Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Standard work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday to Friday, with a 60-minute lunch break.
  • This position is home-based.
  • Travel is necessary.
  • Salary: The starting salary may be non-negotiable in certain instances.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience as an Audit Specialist 1; or
  • Two years of professional auditing experience combined with a bachelor's degree that includes or is supplemented by eighteen (18) credits in accounting and auditing; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that includes the required eighteen (18) credits in accounting and auditing.
