POSITION OVERVIEW

The Bureau of Financial Operations' Division of Audit and Review is seeking a dedicated professional for the role of Audit Specialist 2. This position involves providing audit, evaluation, and technical support to various program offices within the Department of Human Services. ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

In this capacity, you will function as a staff auditor and, on occasion, take on the responsibilities of the Auditor-In-Charge (AIC). Your duties will include collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data, as well as reviewing documentation and records, including pertinent laws, regulations, and policies. You will be tasked with documenting your activities using appropriate work papers and analytical tools. Additionally, you will conduct audits, evaluations, or provide technical assistance related to government-operated or funded programs, including special investigations of suspected fraud and abuse.


Moreover, you will prepare audit reports in accordance with Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS). The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of GAGAS. This role offers a platform to demonstrate your exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, as you will present findings to management and compose comprehensive reports, memos, and correspondence. Travel is a requirement for this position.


Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Standard work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch break.
  • This position is home headquartered.
  • Travel is necessary.
  • Salary: In certain cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as an Audit Specialist 1; or
  • Two years of professional auditing experience along with a bachelor's degree that includes or is supplemented by eighteen (18) credits in accounting and auditing; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that includes the required eighteen (18) credits in accounting and auditing.

Other Requirements:

  • Applicants must meet the residency requirement.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions is necessary.
