Position Overview:

As a Mountain Safety Officer, you will be responsible for overseeing ski areas to ensure the safety and well-being of all guests. Your primary duties will include monitoring for injured, reckless, and lost skiers and snowboarders, as well as identifying potential skiing hazards. You will provide first aid and necessary assistance to those in need, while also engaging in ongoing training and emergency procedure drills. Additionally, you will carry out various trail maintenance responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

- Remain on standby for emergency calls and assist with dispatch operations.
- Conduct regular patrols of designated mountain areas to ensure trails are properly marked and to identify any injured, lost, or reckless individuals.
- Monitor and report on weather conditions, skiing traffic, and potential hazards.
- Enforce company safety regulations by addressing reckless behavior and implementing appropriate disciplinary measures.
- Participate in educational initiatives to promote safe skiing and riding practices.

Trail Maintenance Duties:

- Perform various maintenance tasks on trails, including checking for hazards, installing missing signs, and marking potential dangers.
- Engage in snow management activities such as packing down, shoveling, and closing trails when necessary.
- Assist in the opening and closing procedures of trails as assigned.

Emergency Response:

- Conduct searches for missing persons and equipment as required.
- Oversee organized racing events and special activities.
- Provide emergency care and first aid to injured individuals, assessing their condition and administering appropriate treatment, including splinting and transportation to the base area.
- Aid uninjured guests who may be experiencing difficulties or have lost equipment by transporting them to the base area.

Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform essential duties effectively. A high school diploma or equivalent education is required, along with one to three months of related experience or training, or a suitable combination of education and experience.
