Position Overview:
As a Laboratory Patient Coordinator, you will be responsible for managing the registration process, entering orders, and performing reception duties within the laboratory setting. This role involves gathering essential information regarding patient demographics and insurance details, as well as securing necessary patient signatures on relevant documents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Welcome patients in a courteous manner, assisting those with special requirements and ensuring confidentiality is maintained.
  • Accurately identify patients, complete the registration process, and obtain necessary consents and signatures.
  • Collect all billing-related information and enter the correct diagnosis codes, adhering to registration protocols for timely billing.
  • Process test orders in the laboratory information system, generate requisitions, and confirm orders.
  • Maintain effective communication with team members to ensure high-quality customer service and appropriate follow-up.
  • Respond to phone inquiries promptly and professionally.
  • Label and receive specimens accurately into the laboratory system and ensure proper delivery to the relevant department.
  • Act as a customer service representative for laboratory inquiries, including result reporting and handling questions.
  • Comply with all regulatory responsibilities associated with the role.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent. A minimum of one year of experience in a customer service role is essential. A valid driver's license is required for travel to various locations.

Preferred:
Familiarity with medical terminology, ICD-9 coding, and experience in a medical office or hospital setting is advantageous.

Work Environment:
Full-Time position with standard hours of 40.00 per week. The work schedule includes variable shifts, typically between 6:30 AM and 11:30 PM, with alternating weekends and holidays as needed.

Compensation:
Hourly rate of $28.22.

Working Conditions:
  • Requires significant manual dexterity and coordination.
  • Minimal occupational risk.
  • Primarily sedentary with the potential to exert up to 10 lbs. of force.
  • Generally pleasant working conditions.
